Effective Altruism Hungary

These Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) set out the basis on which Effective Altruism Hungary (“EAH”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides its career advice services, educational programs, and related support to individuals (“you”, “participant(s)”) engaging with our community.

Before submitting your data through our forms or continuing to engage with our services, you will be asked to read and accept these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Notice.

1. About Us

We are a project of Epistea, z.s. We are dedicated to providing free educational programs and career advice aimed at increasing the positive social impact of individuals’ work. Our services are provided free of charge and include educational programs, mentoring, and career coaching.

2. Scope of Services

Depending on the specific support you ask from us, we may provide you with:

  • Introductory courses and educational programs in priority cause areas (e.g., AI safety, animal welfare, global health).

  • One-on-one or small-group career coaching.

  • Access to relevant job opportunities and professional development resources.

  • Referrals to third parties (e.g., potential employers or other EA organisations), where appropriate and subject to your consent.

We reserve the right to determine eligibility for each offering based on submitted forms, staff evaluations, and availability of resources.

We do not offer our services to persons under the age of 18.

3. Application and Participation Process

3.1 Expression of Interest

When submitting an initial intake form (e.g., via Facebook or referral), you will be asked to consent to be contacted by EAH. You will also receive our monthly newsletter and periodic updates, with an option to unsubscribe at any time.

3.2 Evaluation and Outreach

Once you’ve submitted your detailed application form, we assess your preferences and availability to match you with suitable programs. We may contact you to schedule a follow-up call via Google Meet or Zoom. Notes may be taken to help personalise our support.

Submission of a form does not guarantee acceptance into a program. Selection is based on alignment with our program goals, capacity, and relevance to your stated interests.

3.3 Participation and Attendance

If accepted, you are expected to engage meaningfully with the program. Attendance and performance may be monitored to determine eligibility for further support. Continued access to career support is contingent on demonstrated engagement.

4. Data Use and Communications

All personal data collected is handled in accordance with our Privacy Notice, which should be read in conjunction with these terms & conditions. This includes data shared in intake forms, course participation, communications, feedback, and career coaching.

You understand and agree that:

  • Data may be processed for program delivery, outcome tracking, internal evaluation, and regulatory compliance.

  • Communications may include program-related updates, community news, and opportunities aligned with your expressed interests.

  • With your consent, we may refer you to third-party partners or employers.

  • You can opt out of newsletters or withdraw consent for non-essential processing at any time.

5. Donations

We are a project of Epistea, z. s., a  nonprofit registered association based in Czechia. Its IČO (company registration number) is 08241392. If you choose to support us through a donation, the related data is processed solely to:

  • Complete the transaction securely.

  • Fulfil our legal obligations.

  • Issue receipts and maintain financial records.

We do not store your full payment credentials. See our Privacy Notice for details.

6. Referrals and External Opportunities

Career referrals, introductions to partner organisations, and interviews with employers may be offered based on your engagement and expressed interests.

We only share your personal information with third parties with your explicit consent, or where necessary to fulfill a legitimate interest aligned with your career goals and in line with applicable data protection law.

We are not responsible for the hiring decisions, communications, or actions of third parties to whom you are referred.

7. Program Discretion

Participation in EAH’s services is not guaranteed and may be limited based on available resources. 

We reserve the right to:

  • Decline or withdraw support where necessary (e.g., due to inactivity, unavailability or capacity limits).

  • Modify program formats or availability without prior notice (notwithstanding our commitment to provide reasonable notice of changes to the best of our ability). 

  • Perform changes to these terms and conditions where necessary due to changes in our processes, changes in the format or availability of our programs, legal requirements, among other reasons. 

We aim to communicate changes clearly and respectfully. You will generally receive an email notification from us should there be a significant change to these Terms that impact how we support you, or the structure of the program you are part of. If necessary, you will be asked to read and acknowledge said changes.

8. Your Responsibilities

By participating, you agree to:

  • Engage with EAH staff and volunteers respectfully.

  • Provide accurate information in your forms and communications.

  • Not misuse EAH platforms or communications channels.

We may discontinue support in cases of misconduct or breach of these Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Czechia. Any disputes shall fall under the jurisdiction of the Czechian courts.
